Early Childhood Education

Would you like to play for a living? If so, Early Childhood Education is just the field for you! You will study child development, care and guidance of children, communication skills in working with parents and children, as well as methods of helping young children learn. Preparation for employment includes lectures, discussions, hands-on activities through labs and Work-Based Learning work experiences.

Transfer Agreements

  • The Early Childhood Education Licensure Transfer Track and Non-Licensure Track Degrees at Wayne Community College currently have transfer agreements with all public North Carolina 4-year schools that allow you to continue your education and start as a junior towards a bachelor’s degree.
  • Wayne Community College currently has bilateral transfer agreements with UNC-G and UNC-W to continue preparation to become a birth-through-kindergarten-licensed teacher. Many of the required classes can be taken in the evening, on the weekend, or online.
  • Transfer to the University of Mount Olive to complete a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education (B-K) or a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education (B-K) and Licensure. Check out more details (PDF).
